Pan-SPEC

Pan-SPEC is a NASA-funded project at UH to add wide-field spectroscopic capability to Pan-STARRS. A new filter-plane array of prisms will be installed to provide slitless spectroscopy for a substantial fraction of the field of view. A pilot project will target known NEOs during regular survey observations. We expect serendipitous spectra of roughly 10 - 30 background main belt asteroids for every targeted NEO.

Pan-SPEC is in the process of procuring the main optical elements for this project.
