Dynamic (or micro-) scheduling

• Allows direct points of entry into the flow by all parties (PI/OT, agent, survey manager, pipeline/QA, archive)

• Instantly responsive to changes in conditions, facility status, TOOs,

• Fulfills project comletion goals

• Can perform telescope "trajectory balancing" by weighting criteria

• Will perform field "load-balancing" by a automated manipulation of weighting

• Simple self-maintaining periodic monitoring

Macro-scheduling

• Expensive in development cost

• Computationally expensive or poor in rapid follow-up

• Not demonstrated to be superior to micro-scheduling in ground based telescopes

• SPIKE has been considered and rejected by JCMT, ALMA. At the Baltimore ADASS SPIKE developers lukewarm as to the suitability for ground-based telescopes.
