Pan-STARRS — the Panoramic Survey Telescope And Rapid Response System operates two 1.8m telescopes on the summit of Haleakalā located on on the island of Maui, Hawaii for the purposes of astronomical research. The bulk of observing time is dedicated to the search for potentially hazardous asteroids supported by NASA's Near-Earth Object Observations program. In addition, Pan-STARRS collaborates with two teams to explore the transient universe, including cosmology studies using supernovae and searching for counterparts to gravitational wave events and other key transient phenomena. The Pan-STARRS team is also part of the UNIONS collaboration to provide deep imaging of the northern hemisphere.
